Christopher Jarvi had an active leadership role in prominent outdoor recreation and community organizations including the National Park Service, National Recreation and Park Association and California Parks and Recreation Society. Throughout his career, he viewed his job as building a stronger community rather than simply delivering services.

About the Scholarship
At Chris' request, this scholarship was created to encourage parks and recreation professionals to continue to explore how partnering efforts can help achieve park, recreation and community goals.
Therefore, the scholarship was created to support award recipients wishing to attend conferences, meetings, and other opportunities with the specific goal of developing partnerships.
Scholarships range from $500 - $1,500 and may be used over the 18 months following the award. *Please note that the scholarship award is not intended to cover 100% of the cost to attend.*
The scholarship period opens May 1st of each year, and closes July 31st. Award decisions will be made and communicated to recipients In August.
